Behind the Scenes Bringing Our Property Video to Life
Our new property video is live and we hope that you have all enjoyed watching it. A project months in the making and very close to our hearts, we are delighted to now share a little behind-the-scenes insight with you. If you haven’t watched it yet (where have you been) go watch it here and come back to find out about the behind the scenes fun!
From the outset of the project, our aim was to create something original and memorable. We of course wanted a video that stood out visually, but perhaps more importantly, we wanted to capture the emotion, significance, and aspiration behind buying a home. This might be our day job but we never lose sight of the reality that a new home is not just a transaction; it is a dream, a milestone, and often the foundation of a new chapter in life. That belief and understanding sat at the heart of our creative concept.
To bring this vision to life, we sought out industry professionals who we could trust to tell our story. We were delighted to work with the exceptionally talented (and local) Tom from TCH Creative, whose filming expertise helped translate our ideas seamlessly onto the screen. It was then over to the equally talented Dominika Jackowska, who from her base overlooking Edinburgh castle created the beautifully intricate stop-motion sequences that give the video its distinctive character. The creative combination of conventional filming with stop motion gave us the ability to tell the story in a way that feels both imaginative and meaningful, while still reflecting the professionalism and trust at the core of what we do.
The narrative follows a simple but meaningful journey. A young girl walks along the high street with her mother and notices her perfect home displayed in our estate agency window. The home is called- Blackwood House, see if you can spot it, and in her childhood wonder it is represented to her by a beautiful wooden dolls house. The girl’s imagination takes over and through the stop-motion elements, we see her dream take shape. The rooms in the doll’s house are a visual representation of imagination, possibility, and hope. Time moves on and years later, that same girl returns to the same window as an adult and spots the real Blackwood House in the window. She of course turns to Blackwood & Smith to help buy her very first home – turning a never forgotten childhood dream into reality. It is a story about growth, longevity, trust, and the importance of having experienced professionals guide you through one of life’s biggest decisions.
Filming took place over two days and was truly a whole team effort. Our stars, Norah and Anna, were absolutely brilliant throughout filming. Despite the weather not being on our side during the first day, their patience, enthusiasm, and professionalism never wavered – and we think that the results speak for themselves. You may also spot a few familiar faces throughout the video, as we were fortunate to have the support of friends and colleagues who kindly stepped in to help bring the scenes together. We are also incredibly grateful to Hayley and Kris for allowing us to use their beautiful kitchen, and to Darren at Second to None for lending us boxes to help complete the set and props.
Buying a home is a life decision that is both significant and emotional, and we wanted our video to reflect just how special that journey is. From the very first thread of a dream to the momentous moment that the keys are handed over. We thoroughly enjoyed every moment of imagining, planning and filming the video and we are incredibly proud of what we have created. We hope that our enjoyment is shared and that the message resonates with everyone who watches it.
