I have been with Blackwood and Smith W.C. at least since the 1980s and would never use any other lawyer. I have always been treated so well, promptly, kindly and diligently. Karen Valentine was new to me when, on my husband’s recent death, she took on a very complicated job and dealt with all my mistakes, my woes, and I felt she was indeed a very professional friend. Such times require humanity as well as professionalism. Everything was dealt with promptly, correctly and with understanding. I was kept up to date with what was happening.
I have always felt comfortable with taking any problem to this firm, particularly now.

Karen Valentine at Blackwood and Smith dealt with my late aunt’s estate and I was extremely impressed with the service she provided. There were a large number of beneficiaries including 2 living abroad and a considerable number of companies to contact as part of the process. All the communications which I received were timely and very detailed and clear. When it became apparent that the winding up of the estate was taking longer than expected Karen arranged to make interim payments to all of the beneficiaries which was greatly appreciated. Karen’s persistence in dealing with some of the larger well known Scottish companies and constantly checking that they had the correct details before accepting any repayments or invoices is to be admired.

We have used Blackwood & Smith for a number of conveyancing and property matters recently, dealing primarily with Struan. Everything was dealt with in a smooth, calm and knowledgeable fashion. Matters of importance were highlighted to us during the transactions, and everything else was taken care of. We felt we were in very safe hands. Move day went so smooth with personal phone call at 10am on moving out and into new property day from Sally Swinney to confirm sale and purchase had been complete. Would certainly recommend.

I found Blackwood and Smith to be very efficient dealing with my purchase and sale of property. Very friendly and approachable and would not hesitate to use them again.

We used Blackwood and Smith to execute my mother-in-law’s estate, and were glad we did. The state was handled by Karen Valentine and Frances Knott, who were far more pleasant to work with than what we had expected from legal professionals. The estate was executed without issue, which is more than we can say for the expensive Edinburgh lawyers who had executed my father-in-law’s will. They also took alternative routes that meant the confirmation happened 4 weeks quicker. We will be using Blackwood and Smith for future legal work.
