
Callum is a Consultant in our Private Client Team. He advises executors and beneficiaries in the administration of estates, prepares Wills and Powers of Attorney and advises Attorneys on their duties and responsibilities. He also administers Trusts and provides Inheritance Tax planning advice. Callum is expertly placed to advise clients in these areas due to his previous experience as a partner in Lindsays LLP, Edinburgh.
Callum has a keen interest in the Third Sector and has extensive experience in the establishment, reorganisation and winding-up of Charitable Trusts.
Callum has specialised exclusively in advising individual clients and families for over thirty five years and enjoys developing long term relationships with clients and helping them at all stages of their lives. Callum has particular experience in executry administration and has advised numerous families on how to deal with the legal issues arising on the death of a relative and clients appreciate his sympathetic and pragmatic approach.
Above all Callum aims to provide clients with clear explanations of complex legal issues and assist them in making the best decisions to preserve wealth for future generations.
Callum is a member of the Society of Writers to His Majesty’s Signet and represents the Society on the Boards of the Lothian Homes Trust and John Watson’s Trust. Callum is also Clerk to the Incorporation of Cordiners of the City of Edinburgh and Collector of the Glasgow Incorporation of Cordiners and acts a Secretary of a number of substantial grant-making charitable trusts. He is also a member of the Vestry of the Church of St Michael & All Saints in Edinburgh.
Outwith the office, Callum enjoys spending weekends at his cottage in the Borders ( he is a keen gardener), annual holidays in France or Italy, reading, seeing the latest films and trying out new restaurants.
Callum’s favourite things are – his Border Terrier, Rosie, sunshine and Friday evenings.
