Supporting our clients. Supporting charities A proud milestone in our long-standing support for Will Aid
We are delighted to share that Blackwood & Smith Solicitors has raised an impressive £3,760 for charity through this year’s Will Aid campaign.
At Blackwood & Smith we have proudly supported Will Aid since 1996, giving our time and expertise throughout November to help people put simple Wills in place while raising much-needed funds for charity.
This year’s fundraising brings the total raised by Blackwood & Smith through Will Aid over the years to an incredible £47,541.
Supporting charities through Will writing
Will Aid is an annual campaign that brings together solicitors across the UK to support a range of important charitable causes.
During the campaign, participating solicitors waive their usual fee for writing a simple Will and instead invite clients to make a voluntary donation to Will Aid. These donations help support the campaign’s partner charities and their vital work in communities across the UK and around the world.
For our team, taking part in Will Aid is about more than helping clients plan for the future. It’s also an opportunity to make a positive contribution to people who may be facing hardship or difficult circumstances.
“We are proud to support Will Aid each year. It gives us the opportunity to help clients plan for the future while also raising money for charities doing essential work in the UK and overseas.
“The campaign is a real team effort, and it is really rewarding to know our support can make a difference to people facing difficult circumstances.”
Making a difference together
Since Will Aid was launched in 1988, the campaign has raised more than £26 million in donations, alongside millions more pledged through charitable legacies.
The money raised supports Will Aid’s partner charities, which work across a wide range of causes, including humanitarian aid, supporting vulnerable children, tackling homelessness and helping people experiencing hardship.
The partner charities are Age UK, British Red Cross, Christian Aid, Crisis, NSPCC, SCIAF (Scotland), Shelter and Trócaire (Northern Ireland).
Lauren Poole, Chair of Will Aid, praised the achievement, saying:
“Congratulations to the team on raising such a fantastic amount. It’s always inspiring to see firms come together to support Will Aid, giving their time and expertise to help clients while raising vital funds for our partner charities.”
Will Aid Campaign Director Peter de Vena Franks also highlighted the important contribution made by participating solicitors:
“The continued commitment from firms like Blackwood & Smith Solicitors is what makes Will Aid such a success year after year. Their support helps ensure the campaign can reach more people while generating essential funding for charities delivering crucial work in the UK and beyond. It’s a great example of how the legal profession can make a meaningful difference in communities.”
